    What Mounting and Balancing Means

Mounting puts the new tire on your wheel and seals it. Balancing spins the wheel and tire together and adds small weights where they're heavy, so they turn smoothly. Skip the balance and you feel it at highway speed: a shake in the steering wheel or the seat, and tires that wear in patches.

Tell us what you drive and how you drive it. We match the size, load rating and speed rating your vehicle calls for and tell you which tires we can get for it. Call before you come in so the tires are here when your car is.

We also look at how your old tires wore. Wear on one edge usually means the alignment is off. A car that's out of alignment wears new tires out early, so we can check the alignment while the car is here and tell you if it needs one. If you're only replacing two tires, we can rotate the others into the right spots.

    Signs You Need New Tires

    • Tread worn down to the wear bars in the grooves
    • Cracks in the sidewall or between the tread blocks
    • A bulge or bubble on the sidewall
    • Steering wheel or seat shakes at highway speed
    • One edge of the tire worn more than the other

How We Mount and Balance Your Tires

    1. Check the tire size and ratings on your door sticker and on the tires you have now
    2. Go over the options we can get for your car and give you the price before any work starts
    3. Remove the old tires and check the wheels for bends and cracks
    4. Mount the new tires and set the air pressure to your door sticker
    5. Balance each wheel and tire on our balancer
    6. Torque the lug nuts to your vehicle's spec
    7. Test drive to check for vibration and pulling

    Shop tip

We look at how the old tires wore before they come off. Edge wear points to alignment, and cupped spots point to worn shocks or struts. We show you what we see, so the new tires don't go the same way.
